Workshop Description: Sewing a Zippered Pouch

July 10 - 16, 2024

Video Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Here is an inspiring project to use your leftover handwoven fabric.  Learn how to make zipper bags with a complementary lining using remnants of handwoven fabric.  Create a surprise on the inside and a bead pull tab. They are great for gifting.

This is a hands-on virtual workshop. Along with the instructions and material list that you will receive in advance, you will need an iron and sewing machine at the ready.   Our goal is to have each of you make one zipper bag together.

Supplies you need:

  • 2 pieces of 8 1/2” square handwoven or commercial fabric
  • 2 pieces of 8 1/2” square coordinating fabric for the lining of the bag
  • 2 pieces of 8 1/2” square fusible interface (optional)
  • 7” zipper in a complimentary color to the handwoven fabric
  • Sewing thread and a bobbin for the sewing machine (machine threaded)
  • Sewing machine zipper foot
  • Iron, Ironing Board and Ironing Cloth
