Workshop Description:
Participants will get a hands-on introduction to making a cartoon/pattern that will allow them to weave a small pulled warp piece. They will leave with a cartoon and knowledge to create another, as well as the information to weave and finish a small shaped, pulled warp tapestry from their cartoon.
Students are requested to bring to class: Ruler, pencil, eraser, paper, cellophane tape

Instructor Bio:
Barbara Burns is a figurative artist working in the medium of tapestry. She is known for her tapestries of women and for her large shaped and pulled warp woven vessels. Burns has been weaving since 1992, switching to tapestry in 2003 when she began an 11-year mentorship with world renowned tapestry artists Archie Brennan and Susan Martin-Maffei as well as with numerous other well- known tapestry artists, and in 2005 she studied tapestry at West Dean College in England. She has taught in New England and in the UK. Her work is in multiple private collections. On both national and international platforms, Burns has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows, received many awards for her tapestries, lectured, curated and juried exhibits, and written for textile publications. She has taught in New England and in the UK.
