Workshop Description: During the 2-hour session, Deborah will share her love of weaving on a rigid heddle loom. A short PowerPoint presentation will show Deborah’s projects woven on one of these versatile looms. Participants will see how many items can be woven on a small loom, including garments, blankets, bags, and more. She will demonstrate how to efficiently put a long or wide warp on a rigid heddle loom while maintaining even tension. Then, Deborah will demonstrate ways to sew narrow panels together to achieve wide pieces of fabric from small loom weaving. Join in the fun and see how lovable a simple loom can be.

Instructor Bio: Deborah Jarchow is a full-time weaver, author, designer, and artist who has exhibited at galleries and museums across the country winning numerous awards. She travels from her Arizona home, sharing weaving enthusiasm and expertise. As a nationally recognized teacher, Deborah is known as a generous educator who makes weaving accessible and exciting to students of all levels. For the past several years, she’s focused on rigid heddle weaving and creating exciting pieces using simple looms. Deborah co- authored The Weaving Explorer (Storey Publishing, 2019) and wrote her new book Rigid Heddle Weaving the Basics and Beyond (Ashford Handicrafts LTD, 2022) which is available from Ashford dealers.
