ZOOM WORKSHOP RECORDING
Date: September 9, 2026
Instructor: Margery Erickson
Workshop Description:
When we were stuck at home in 2020, I had some time to look over old class notebooks and magazines I had not opened in years. This inspired me to start exploring and designing border patterns I call motifs, using an 8-shaft loom. It was just the type of brain exercise I needed. Since then, people have asked, “Can you weave bats? Can you weave bees? Can you weave bicycles?” My response is, “I’ll see what I can do.” Join me as we take a look at how motifs can be designed using an overshot technique or a summer winter threading. I’ve been asked, “Can these be woven on a rigid heddle loom? Or a 4-shaft loom?” We’ll also take a look at answers to these questions.
