N PERSON WORKSHOP
Date: November 12, 2025
Instructor: Andrea Myklebust
Workshop Description: Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the warp-weighted loom, a weaving tool which dominated the ancient world from the Aegean to the North Atlantic in the millenniums prior to the development and introduction of the horizontal loom to Europe. Andrea will bring some of her looms, including warp-making equipment, and examples of textiles she has woven on the warp-weighted loom. Participants will have time to try weaving on this unusual upright loom, and we will discuss the ways in which people are learning how to use this tool as part of their contemporary weaving practice.
Attendee Limit: 11
Instructor Bio: Andrea Myklebust is a shepherd, handspinner, weaver, and bast fiber researcher based in southern Vermont. For more about her work, visit her website at www.mountainheartvt.com
