WGB maintains ties with several nonprofit organizations devoted to textiles. Generally, these organizations contribute informational material about their programs and a subscription to any publication they offer to the WGB library. The relationship sometimes entitles WGB members to discounts, access to educational materials, etc. A large part of the relationships is mutual publicity and networking opportunities with other weavers. For the full benefits these organizations offer, individual memberships are encouraged.
Complex Weavers
CW is an international organization for weavers of all levels who are interested in the techniques of complex weaving. WGB is a member guild of CW and many WGB members are also individual members of CW. The group publishes a Journal of member articles three times a year, has nearly 18 ongoing study groups, two large libraries, and runs a three-day education-focused seminar before or after Convergence. The Journal, directory of weavers, and study group guide are in the WGB library.
Complex Weavers Seminar
July 6-9, 2024 Wichita, Kansas
This three day educational conference is for advanced and other weavers who enjoy a challenge. A low-key intimate setting and a sense of humor bring the focus to learning and camaraderie.
Handweavers' Guild of America
HGA is a nonprofit, international organization for fiber artists at all levels. It's dedicated to encouraging excellence, inspiring creativity, and preserving fiber traditions through educational programs, a biennial seven-day conference (Convergence) and its quarterly publication, Shuttle, Spindle and Dyepot. WGB has a guild affiliate membership in HGA and therefore may borrow educational materials from HGA at a discount. WGB also hosts the Weavers' Guild of Boston Gathering during each Convergence. It's where information about WGB is available, and weavers from everywhere are welcome to come rest and talk shop.
