NOTE OUR REFUND POLICY

If you withdraw:

In-Person and Zoom Workshops:  

  • One month or more prior to the workshop you will be offered a choice to receive a refund, less our processing costs, or a credit to apply to another workshop. 

  • Between one month and two weeks prior to the workshop you will receive a credit to apply to another workshop.  

  • Within two weeks of the workshop date, workshop fees will not be refunded.

3-Day/3-Session Workshops: (in-person or Zoom)

  • One month or more prior to the workshop you will  receive a refund, less our processing costs. 

  • Between one month and two weeks prior to the workshop you will receive a refund (minus fees) only if your spot can be filled.

  • Within two weeks of the workshop date, fees will not be refunded.

Otherwise:

Double/Triple Registration:

  • If you register multiple times for the same workshop you will receive a credit toward another workshop and no refund.

Books and Monographs:  

  • We do not accept returns on books or monographs.

Dues:  

  • Dues and Fees will not be refunded.

Complex Double Weave, Part 1

Workshop Description: Complex Double Weave, Part 1
This is Part 1 of a 2-part double weave workshop. Participants may register for either or both of the sessions offered in October and November, depending on their experience and interest level. This first session will work on understanding and drafting 4 to 8 shaft double weave focusing on the plain weave structure. Threading and treadling double layer fabrics generally uses straight draw sequences. The tie-up uses a systematic approach with the help of profile shortcuts. Drafting and designing will focus on the use of color within the two-layer structure. Participants will use graph paper and colored pencils to begin to understand the potential of dueling color layers. There will be a variety of 4 and 8-shaft doublewoven samples and hand-outs available.

Supplies: Participants will use graphite pencils, colored pencils, graph paper, and rulers to work out the drafting problems.

Instructor Bio: I started weaving on a 4 shaft LeClerc floor loom in 1972, taught by the Northern Adirondack Weavers Guild weavers. Other training/learning experiences include; 1979, BFA in Woven and Constructed Design at the School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y. During that time I spent a year in Finland studying weaving styles and techniques at the Joensuu Handcraft School, Joensuu, Finland. 1979-1981, Studied at the Banff Center of Fine Arts, Banff, Alberta Canada. The winter of ’80-’81, I was a weaving assistant to Mariette Rousseau-Vermette, in Ste. Adele (north of Montreal), Quebec, Canada. Cape Cod Weavers Guild, starting in 1986. Nauset Weavers Guild, starting in 1987. I have had a professional weaving practice starting in 1980 as a national and international exhibiting Fiber Artist and Weaver. My work is in a number of private, corporate, and museum collections, (including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts). I run a weaving studio and gallery in Brewster, Massachusetts, where I teach beginning to advanced weavers on 4 to 8 shaft floor looms, inkle weaving, and rigid heddle weaving.
