Members of the Weavers Guild of Boston were very active at NEWS (New England Weavers Seminar) 2009!  They served in many NEWS positions, from President (Past-Dean Marjie Thompson) and First Vice President/Program (Kathi Spangler) to committee members and representatives for Boston and many other guilds, teachers, and volunteers. It is interesting to note that our members include NEWS representatives for many of the New England Guilds.

NEWS honors the weavers who have proved the excellence of their technical and design abilities over time. Three WGB members joined the select few who are NEWS "Weavers of Distinction": Marjie Thompson (Fashion), Betsy Wing (Gallery), and Carol Wooten (Fashion.)

Our members also entered the gallery show (22 members), fashion show (13) faculty show (4), and the various guild shows.  Five members were first time NEWS exhibitors. Seventeen members participated in the WGB guild show "New Weaves from Old:  Updating WGB Samples from the 1960's - 1970's" run by Marjie Thompson.  Many (14) won prizes and ALL contributed beautiful, inspirational work and are to be commended.
